I’ve always loved seeing implementations of Digital Signage in action and they’re very powerful as sales tools so I wanted to create an areafor my favourites and most hated.

YouTube is as good a place as any to start, although they’re pretty thin on content, so:

THE YouTube DIGITAL SIGNAGE LIVE GALLERY
HP Akkerman’s Video posts (Amsterdam)

You can start there. I’m going to try and use these pages to highlight really cool implementations as well as great content plays. A lot of the current content out there blows – it looks like it was done in powerpoint. This needs to change drastically if people are to buy into this field. If you have some that you think should be added here, throw it in the comments and I’ll take a look.

I’ve also created a category for “Really Bad” content. I’ll fill both up as time goes on.

Love seeing the reaction to the creative signage about halfway through the video:

Great work coming out of Japan. Ubiq’window (theguys from Catchyoo) is a cool little “Minority Report” (as they refer to it) type interactive tool for table tops and window storefronts.

There’s some cool demos on their web site but here’s 2 I love:

Some of my favourites:

Tronic’s Microsoft Vista Ad in JFK is just great creative. This is what content on digital signage networks needs to be:

    Thanks Lars,

Good work! Any chance you can get me 2-3 of what you feel are your best spots in video? I’d like to post them here

    Thanks

Hey Lars. If you ended up at the Screen Expo in London, drop me a line and let me know how it went. I was considering going but heard it was the first one so thought I might wait until next year.

    Cheers

    Rob,
I am incredibly impressed with your takes on this industry. I find my head nodding every time I read a post. Couple of comments: one, the fragmented nature of the industry seems to work in favor of the innovative out there who can take the lead on providing a turn-key solution. two, when you say content out there on these networks currently blows, I again find myself jumping up and down in agreement. As a TV producer, I find the opportunity to broaden the focus and scope of these networks tantalizing indeed. Look forward to growing the space and knowing there are like-minded professionals leading the charge. Cheers!
